Progress Update!

August 18, 2020

Good Morning,
Our team has been working hard over these unprecedented times to restore our services and see all our patients in a safe environment. We are still practicing strict social distancing measures and providing safe care is our priority.

What have we done:
• Our opening hours have extended (now Monday – Friday, 8am-8pm)
• We are limiting the patients and staff in the practice, to allow us to maintain social distancing.
• We are following advice from The British Orthodontic Society/NHS England and carrying out aerosol-free procedures, with correct PPE. We are not charging you extra for this PPE.
• We will contact you for your next appointment, via the contact methods you have provided us.
• If you need to contact us about your appointment or for any general enquiries- please email bath.orthodontics@nhs.net. Our treatment coordinators will respond within 24 hours, excluding weekends.
• If you need clinical advice regarding your brace, please contact 07926529032. The clinical advice line is only open at certain times and are subject to change- please dial 01225 481890 to listen to our answerphone message for the latest times.
• Due to our restricted staff levels, we are not currently taking incoming calls- we apologise for any inconvenience. Please note that this is only a temporary measure.

Please remember to prepare for your appointment
We ask that you please bring a mask to your appointment. Due to Covid-19 and the restrictions, our toilet facilities are out of use for patients. (There are public loos in Sydney Gardens- just opposite!)

IMPORTANT UPDATE REGARDING YOUR NEXT APPOINTMENT

June 4, 2020

We are re-opening our doors on Monday 8th June and look forward to welcoming you again to the practice to continue your treatment.

To ensure the safety of all our patients and staff, a significant number of changes have been made. This means that all appointments made for you before, or during, lockdown have now been cancelled. We are in the process of re-booking all our patients who are currently undergoing orthodontic treatment via a telephone call in the coming days and weeks. Appointments will be made on a priority basis (pain/discomfort) as determined by the clinical team, and in a chronological manner thereafter. Please do not attend the practice if you do not have an appointment with us, as you will not be seen.

Many treatment types, including brace removal, cause fine particles to be released into the air (aerosol). This is a potential route for virus transmission and as such, enhanced PPE and decontamination is required. This enhanced PPE is currently unavailable and as such, it is not possible to remove any braces at this time. Those who were due to have braces removed just prior to lockdown will understandably be very disappointed with this news and we thank you for your ongoing patience at this time.

Any FAQs you may have can be answered on our Q+A section, under ‘Information regarding your treatment during Covid-19.’

We recommend you regularly check our website or follow us on Facebook/Instagram to keep updated on when normal services can resume.

Covid-19 UPDATE 29th May 2020

May 29, 2020

Good morning,

During yesterday’s PM statement, it was announced that dental practices can resume from the 8th of June 2020, if it is safe to do so. Over the next week we will be working hard to ensure that our practice is a safe environment for you to attend and that we are equipped with the correct personal protective equipment (PPE). Despite the news regarding the increased supply of PPE, many dentists including ourselves are yet to be able to source all the equipment we need to safely carry out all treatment types. Quite rightly, PPE is being supplied to hospitals and other front line facilities as a priority.

We have been, and will continue to adhere to guidance published by the Chief Dental Officer and we are expecting more information over the coming days.

We appreciate that these are still uncertain times, and that there are many patients who want to be seen as soon as possible, but we ask that you do not call the practice. We will contact you for an appointment with us. It is likely that we will have to adopt a system where patients are seen based on clinical need as determined by the clinical staff.

However, in the meantime, if you are a patient of ours and in need of any clinical advice with your appliance, please contact our emergency line on 07926529032 as before.

We look forward to seeing you very soon and continuing your treatment when it is safe to do so.

Covid-19 Update April 2020

April 16, 2020

Dear Valued Patient,

Due to the current unprecedented circumstances it is with regret that I have had to take the unfortunate decision to close the practice until further notice. We will be contacting all patients who currently have appointments booked with us. Please do not attend the practice, even for emergencies, as we cannot currently allow access to the building.

We would also like to take this opportunity to remind patients to follow government guidance during this difficult time and wherever possible to STAY AT HOME.

If you have a dental emergency or need advice then please contact our telephone triage service by EITHER calling the practice on 07926529032 or sending us an email at bath.orthodontics@nhs.net.

Please only contact us in cases of a genuine emergency as we need to prioritise our limited resources to help those who need us.

Our team has worked with you and your family for many years and we look forward to seeing you again as soon as we can. We would like to send you our best wishes and hope that you stay safe and well during this extremely difficult time.

Sincerely,

Bath Orthodontics

COVID-19 UPDATE

March 23, 2020

To all our patients,

We are writing to you in this great time of uncertainty, as the United Kingdom prepares for the ever increasing COVID-19 global health crisis.

On the 20th of March 2020 the Chief Dental Officer for England announced new standard operating procedures and guidelines for dental practices, which included not using aerosol treatments and significantly reducing the amount of dental appointments. Effectively this would help contribute towards the delay phase of COVID-19 following the current government guidelines of social distancing. This would help to safeguard our patients and staff, by reducing exposure.

The British Orthodontic Society today published that the organization considers that at this present time the risk to patients and the whole orthodontic team is great. Therefore only to treat patients for emergency help with their orthodontic appliances.
Bath Orthodontics is continuing to stay updated with the latest COVID-19 guidelines and advice. We have decided at this time our practice and our team will be running and emergency service for our patients in need of emergency care with their orthodontic appliances. Please call our practice on 01225 481890 for any further guidance and our out of hours emergency line is 07926529032.

We will be contacting our patients by telephone and letter to reschedule their routine appointments. We can send out elastics or wax to any patients in need of supplies. Our phone line will be open as normal and we will be able to assist any queries that you have.

We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause our patients but our patient safety, staff safety and social responsibility is our main concern, during this time of uncertainty.

If you have any symptoms or have been in contact with anyone diagnosed with COVID 19 then you need to call NHS 111. Please refer to gov.uk for the latest COVID-19 information and advice.

We will continue to monitor the latest information from the government and advise you from this. If circumstances change we will update our information accordingly on our website.

We wish that everyone stays safe during this global health crisis and we hope to continue our routine services soon.
