Thumb Sucking Clinic

Thumb or finger-sucking is commonly seen in babies and toddlers up to the age of 2 years old. Most children stop sucking their thumb by themselves, but some children require additional guidance and support. Thumb-sucking may seem harmless, but it can result in several dental problems, including an open bite (a dental condition where teeth do not meet at the front when your back teeth are together), protruding teeth and narrow arches.

To prevent dental problems, it is important your child stops sucking their thumb as soon as possible. At Bath Orthodontics, we offer a free thumb-sucking clinic to encourage young children to stop sucking their thumb or fingers. Our clinic welcomes children aged 5 years and over and will offer friendly, expert advice to parents and children.

We understand thumb sucking can often be a sensitive topic for both yourself and your child which is why we always aim to create a friendly, welcoming environment. We will never make you or your child feel judged about their habit, instead, we will help educate your child about the positive reasons to stop sucking their thumb.
