Occasionally, teeth fail to erupt into the mouth and become stuck, or impacted, in the gum and bone. Not only is this considered an aesthetic problem, but if left untreated, may cause damage to the adjacent teeth. In these situations, it is often necessary to have a surgical exposure procedure under local anaesthetic to uncover the tooth and gently align it into the mouth using a brace.
